Salary Calculator — Convert Any Pay Rate to Any Frequency
Whether you're comparing a job offer quoted as an hourly rate to your current monthly salary, or converting an annual package into a weekly take-home figure, our salary calculator does all six conversions simultaneously. Enter any pay amount, select the frequency, and instantly see the equivalent hourly, daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and annual figures.
Conversion Assumptions
This calculator uses standard full-time work assumptions: 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 52 weeks per year. This gives 260 working days or 2,080 working hours per year. Annual conversions use 12 months and 26 bi-weekly periods. These are US-standard figures; actual work hours may vary by country and employer.
Understanding Your Pay Frequency
- Hourly: Common for part-time, freelance, and blue-collar positions. Useful for comparing with salary roles.
- Daily: Common in contracting and consulting. Based on 8-hour standard day.
- Weekly: Used in some industries and countries (e.g., UK weekly wages).
- Bi-weekly (every 2 weeks): The most common US pay schedule. Results in 26 pay periods per year.
- Monthly: Most common globally for salaried employees. 12 periods per year.
- Annual: The gross salary figure typically used for job offers and contracts.
Salary Negotiation Tips
When negotiating, always convert all offers to the same base (usually annual) before comparing. A $28/hour offer equals $58,240 annually (at 40 hrs/week, 52 weeks). A $55,000 annual salary equals $26.44/hour. Benefits, bonuses, equity, and PTO also have monetary value — include them in your total compensation analysis.
