Hang Ten Systems CTO: AI Disrupts India’s Time-and-Materials IT Billing Model

Tweets

Artificial intelligence is dismantling the traditional headcount-driven revenue model that has sustained India’s IT services sector for the past thirty years. According to Navin Budhiraja, Chief Technology Officer at Hang Ten Systems, the longstanding practice of billing clients based on developer count is no longer viable now that AI has severed the connection between team size and software delivery volume.

Speaking with Analytics India Magazine (AIM), Budhiraja emphasized that this shift represents a permanent structural transformation rather than a temporary trend. As a result, major IT service firms will need to pivot away from massive, multi-year staffing deployments toward lean teams that focus on delivering high-value results within weeks or months instead of years.
